The Indigenous Children & Parenting Program (ICaPP) works with families to support parents to enrol children in playgroups, kindy, prep and schools in Mount Isa.
Services
The Indigenous Children and Parenting Program (ICAPP) is a family-led, strengths-based service that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to actively participate in their children’s development, learning, and education.
Working alongside families in a culturally safe and respectful way, the service builds on family strengths, promotes positive parenting practices, and strengthens family relationships.
ICAPP supports parents and carers to engage with their children’s school and early learning environments by encouraging participation in parent-teacher interviews, school meetings, and other educational activities. The service also provides parenting education that strengthens understanding of child development and promotes positive, respectful approaches to guiding children’s behaviour.
By connecting families with community services and support networks, ICAPP helps build family capacity and promotes positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
